About
Hello, my name is Nikki Higgins, and my heart was forever touched by Bernese Mountain dogs in 1994, when I was just 15 years old. That year, my mum brought home a gentle giant, and in that moment, my life was changed forever. The overwhelming love and connection I felt with these incredible creatures ignited a fire within me that has never died out.
We were a family devoted to obedience, and driven by that passion, I continued to cherish and care for Bernese Mountain dogs. Along the way, I met an extraordinary friend and mentor, Felicity Broome of Bernation Kennels—through her wisdom and kindness I learned the art of showing Bernese and feeling honored to be part of the Bernese Mountain dog community. I joined the Bernese Mountain dog club of Victoria in 2000 and have been a general committee member consistently over the last 25 years.
Now, living in South East Melbourne, Victoria, I am blessed with a loving husband, Robbie, and two wonderful children. Our home is filled with love, laughter, and the awe-inspiring presence of our gorgeous Bernese Mountain Dogs who shares our every moment. While we haven't competed in obedience competitions for a while, I cherish every second spent training and bonding with my dogs—those moments are treasures, forming partnerships in trust, love, and mutual respect.

One of my most cherished memories is seeing my Beautiful boy Maverick, pull my two young children down the aisle at my wedding in a charming, handcrafted cart. That moment, full of love and wonder, will forever be etched in my heart.

Today, I am ready to step into a new chapter—breeding under my own prefix, Swisspeaks—with a soul full of passion and purpose. I am eternally grateful to Felicity Broome for her ongoing guidance and unwavering support, which has helped shape my journey and fueled my dreams. This is a calling driven by love—a love that has only grown stronger with time—and I am excited to see where it will lead us next.
